As of 2:30pm we’ve received roughly 3 inches of snow. Mariah just went skiing on the practice field and reported that conditions are perfect for rock skis. Trails are open! The shop will be open tomorrow, Saturday 3/31 from 10-5, and is always open by appointment or when the “Open” sign is out. The March Madness Sale continues with amazing deals on skis and apparel… stop in and see us!

What a heat wave we have had! The trails are snow free and trail maintenance supervisor Stu has been cleaning debris off the high ground trails for the past few days.

Stu reports that this may be the best time this spring to be in the forest, hiking, pole walking, biking or running because there are no bugs yet!

All the trails, except the Wild Turkey trail, are open to the public during the spring, summer and fall except during firearm deer season. Please park in the Ski HQ parking lot when going out on the trails.

We will keep regular hours (10am - 5pm) through Sunday, March 23. After that we will be open “when the sign is out” or by appointment. Just call 800 832 2663 to be sure we will be there. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for kids 8 and younger. Reservations will get first seating. Some patrons are quite particular in their choice of beverages and choose to bring their own.

The overall snowfall from Friday night’s snow event was over 12 inches. The heavy snow bent many young trees over the trails. Trail crew Stu, Greg and Bob finally got the Mackinac Cut Wild Turkey and Trapper’s Cabin trails cleared and groomed by 1pm. The rest of the day Greg and Stu worked on clearing the Rolling Hills trail.

Many skiers chose to ski the rest of the trails through the overhanging snow laden trees. They have skied in nice tracks and been very helpful as tree shaking volunteers!

The really good news this morning is that groomer Rodney finally had his road plowed so he was able to get to work! He started grooming at 7am.

His first mission is to regroom, snowcomb and reset tracks if needed on the Mackinac Cut, Wild Turkey and Trapper’s Cabin trails. His second mission will be to team up with trail cutters Stu and Scotty to finish clearing the Rolling Hills Trail.

By 10am the Rolling Hills, Wild Turkey, Mackinac Cut and Trapper’s Cabin trails will be groomed and have beautiful snowcombed skating lanes and deep tracks set.

Groomer Stu will start packing the trails at 7:30 this morning. The first trails (Mackinac Cut & Wild Turkey) should be ready to ski on by 10am.
Once groomed, the trail conditions will be great for classic skiing and very good for skate skiing on all trails.
