We are Most Grateful for the Cross Country Ski Headquarters Trail Sponsors
|
This past season we were so fortunate to have great snow conditions and to have groomer Kevin get up most every morning at 5AM and groom the trails! By 9AM the trails had set up and skiing was the best ever! Trail Sponsors help pay for groomimg but that is not all! They also help pay for snowmaking, fall mowing (with the 65 hp Case Tractor and by hand), stump grinding, tilling, grading, trimming, clearing. trail insurance and the special use permit (permit fee increased by 5 times in 2006), from the Michigan DNR, that allows us to use the state forest for many of the X-C Ski HQ Trails. It is trail sponsor support that helps pay for such things as the Bombardier 250 Snowcat & plow, the SkiDoo Skandic snowmobile, the state of the art Italian made Alpina 1200 pound giant snowmobile, and Ginzugroomer and the LatueXpert Trackmaker roller that we use for making great tracks, even when there is not much snow. Besides a season of great groomed X-C trails, the trail sponsors get other benefits too; such as use of the Stone Turtle Day Lodge and Picnic Area, use of Trapper's Cabin, season of free parking, wax bench & tools to share, the enjoyment of real logs burning in the huge fieldstone fireplace, 2 deluxe rest rooms a shower and a membership in the Coffee / Hot Cocoa Club! As a Trail Sponsor your cost for Coffee, Hot Cocoa, Cider and Cappuccino is only 25 cents per cup! This fall we have trimmed, mowed, ground up 46 big stumps and cleared all the trails. If it is cold enough in November we will be making snow with an Areco Snow Gun on the Blizzard Trail. In 2000 we built a 32' x 30' pole barn pump house, brought in 480 3 phase power, buried pipe and have really become more efficient and quiet when making snow. We really need Trail Sponsor support. |
